Maria
Fiore, Cafe Fiore
Food,
food, food, what else can I say, it is one of Gods
greatest creations. It has always been a passion of
mine ever since I can remember. I was born to Italian
Immigrants who instilled in me the importance of family
first, traditions next and the importance of good eating
last. Southern Italian cooking was a way of life in our
household. My father worked for an Italian cheese
company and my mom was a seamstress, so when an Italian
deli was for sale, the natural progression for my father
was to buy the deli. My sister and I have worked in the
deli from our early teens, learning the ins and outs of
how to run a business and how to make great food. We
made everything from scratch, from our sauces to our
pork sausages. Selling the deli in 1999, I went to work
at Padri Restaurant in Agoura Hills, first as hostess,
then as General Manager, where I learned how to run the
daily operations of the restaurant business. A great
learning experience that propelled me into buying my own
restaurant. With the help of my sister, and two other
partners we opened Cafe Fiore.
Cafe Fiore
opened in October of 2003 to a very receptive Ventura
community. With the help of my sister, we have
successfully brought our Italian traditions to fruition,
from the food to the wine. We have incorporated a very
simple formula to our restaurant, the three essentials
to any restaurant: great food, great service and great
ambiance. Our restaurant runs like a large Italian
family, we respect our workers and it is reciprocated by
all our employees. I periodically go to Italy to learn
about all the new food movements and try to incorporate
new ideas in our menu on a daily basis.

to California in 1969. Since that time I have lived and
