We will open our shoulders and hip flexors in an asana sequence which will help practitioners access the strength and suppleness needed to move into inverted poses such as Pincha Mayurasana (Tail of the Peacock) and back extensions such as Upward Facing Bow with confidence and freedom.
Many modifications and alternatives will be offered to accommodate a range of abilities and experience.
Hazel Patterson began teaching public yoga classes fourteen years ago and believes that yoga can be adapted for every person, from the most rigorous physical practice, to the most modified and gentle. She has worked extensively with clients rehabilitating serious injuries and has consistently observed how dramatic relief can be brought about by working through the physical body with even very simple yogic movement, breath-work and compassionate attention.
With a practice that has spanned 20 years studying with such yoga luminaries as Lisa Walford, Manuso Manos, Shandor Remete and Annie Carpenter, Hazel currently leads teacher trainings in the YogaWorks method and is also working with Rodney Yee in presenting Urban Zen Integrative Therapy trainings on the west coast.
