General Description of work to be performed

A.      General: Main Street, Oak Street from Main Street to Thompson Street, California Street from Poli Street to Main Street, and California Street from Santa Clara Street to Thompson Boulevard: 10 P.M. to 7 A.M. of the following day, Sunday through Thursday (except holidays). No night work shall occur on Friday and Saturday.

The Work hours on Oak Street from Poli Street to Main Street (excluding the Main Street intersection) and California Street, from Main Street to Santa Clara Street (excluding the Main Street intersection): 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday (except holidays). 

Limited day work shall be allowed as specified in section 708.

Work performed outside of these hours, shall be by approval of the City Engineer only.  The Contractor shall be responsible for all inspection costs for work done outside of these work hours.

 B.      Work Activities within City Streets:

Reference is made to the General Conditions of the Encroachment Permit.  Work activities within City Streets and/or work that can potentially impact the normal flow of traffic within City streets shall be restricted to the hours specified in the encroachment permit or as provided above.

  RESTRICTIONS ON CLOSURE OF TRAFFIC LANES

A.      All traffic lanes shall be open for public use at all times except during the following days and times specified below:

1.      Main Street, Oak Street from Main Street to Thompson Street, California Street from Poli Street to Main Street, and California Street from Santa Clara Street to Thompson Boulevard: 10 P.M. to 7 A.M. of the following day, Sunday through Thursday.

2.      Oak Street from Poli Street to Main Street (excluding the Main Street intersection) and California Street, from Main Street to Santa Clara Street (excluding the Main Street intersection): 8:30 A.M. to 4:30P.M., Monday through Friday.

708-2   NIGHT WORK

Work hours on: Main Street, entire length scheduled for work; Oak Street, Main Street to Thompson Street ; California Street, Poli Street to Main Street; California Street, Santa Clara Street to Thompson Boulevard shall occur during the night, Sunday through Thursday, between the hours of 10:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. of the next day, unless otherwise permitted by the City Engineer.  All lanes of traffic shall be open and the work area shall be cleaned up and swept by 7:00 A.M. the following day.

Sections of work in the above mentioned areas might need to be completed during the day during the hours specified in section 708-2. Any work allowed during the day shall include work that does not take more than two (2) parking stalls in one working day and does not close any traffic lanes.

708-3   DAY WORK

Work on: Oak Street, Poli Street to Main Street (excluding the Main Street intersection) and California Street, Main Street to Santa Clara Street (excluding the Main Street intersection) shall occur during the day, Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M.
